MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL AQUAMARINE PARK (MOAP)
Misamis Occidental particularly in the municipalities of Tudela and Sinacaban is one of the few places in the Philippines where you can swim with and feed the dolphins up close. Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park and the Dolphin Island is one of the well known tourists spot in Misamis Occidental. I was born and raised in Misamis Occidental until the age of 8, that's why I guarantee you that you will not regret going this place.
You might ask what is something special to this place that is different from other Aquamarine Parks, well let me identify it for you. Arriving from the Ozamiz City Airport you can took a bus from there and after a 15 minutes bus ride you will be alighted at the park's access road along the national highway. For only 5 minutes walk from the highway you will reached the main entrance of MOAP.
The said park is a tropical resort and a prominent habitat for various marine mammals in Mindanao. It is owned by the provincial government of Misamis Occidental. If you are finding a place that is convenient and consume less time of travel arriving from the airport then MOAP is the most perfect spot.
It feature fish hatcheries and a mangrove forest. It has a minimal entrance of Php10.00 per person, and take note you will feel secured and safe for the members of Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit are assigned to maintain peace and order within the parks premises.
MOAP also offers accommodation to visitors, you will have to walked through the concrete walkway passing by MOAP's guest rooms having a perfect view of the Dolphin Island and the mangrove trees.
The walkway is extending to the bridge leading to the MOAP Ocean Grill Restaurant that accepts catering events such as birthdays, reception for weddings, christenings and etc.
After relaxing and roaming around the area its time for you to relax and play with the dolphins. There is this boat dock that serves as a jump-off point to the Dolphins Island. If you are early enough to catch the first trip of the boat then you've got the chance to ride with the staff of the Dolphins Island just like on what we experienced.
The Dolphin Island isn't really an island but it is a man-made structure sitting on a submerged sandbar. At the center of it is a dolphin pen that serves as a rehabilitation faculty for injured dolphins. Surrounding the pen is a walkway connecting the different facilities of the Dolphin Island.
As you arrived in the Island you are now ready to feed and play around with the dolphins inside the pen after paying the said amount for entrance. You have to feel free to swim with the dolphins because there is a time limit of 20 minutes.
After your dolphin experience, you should try the snorkeling area, and I guarantee you that it would be the best snorkeling experience that you will try so far.
